macOS Beta
Welcome to the world of… GIFwrapped for macOS! This release has been in the works for a long time, with the first macOS commits being made on a branch of the iOS app back in 2020, and that branch finally being merged back into the main development pipeline back in January.
It is still a work in progress. Please send through any and all feedback you have, as this is likely the most malleable that the app will ever be. Once it goes out for public release—the timeframe for which is still TBD—I will be much less amenable to changing things “just because.”
Thanks for testing… I hope you enjoy the app!
What's new in v2021.5 (1266)?
Like all social networks, Twitter often make changes to their website to introduce features, fix bugs… or just tweak stuff to “improve engagement”. It doesn’t always affect GIFwrapped’s ability to download GIFs from Twitter, but sometimes they change just the right thing, and I end up with hundreds of emails telling me how bad GIFwrapped is and “how dare you censor me” which is just so much fun. Anyway, here’s an update that restores parsing tweets for GIFs.
With my wild schedule, staying on top of the macOS beta cycle can be tricky, particularly when I get caught up in other projects and deadlines. I had originally given each direct download release a limit of 30 days before it imploded, but after accidentally letting it expire twice in a row, I decided to extend that to 90 days… and also display how long it has left in the about screen. See you all in 91 days!
Requires macOS 11.0 or later.
